You Keep Me Safe and Wild Hearts Cards by Katelyn

We are thrilled to welcome the talented Katelyn Grosart to our 2018 design team! She is a fellow Canadian girl and resides on Vancouver Island. We have been so lucky to get to know Katelyn over the last while and we know you will adore her too. She has a detailed card tutorial for us today, so we will let her take it from here!

Hey Wild Whisper Fans! Katelyn here and I’m excited to be joining the Wild Whisper Design Team. To kick off my first post on the team, I created two fun cards using the More Adventures collection. This collection is perfect for both feminine and masculine projects. You’ll want to make sure to go grab a cup of your favourite beverage and enjoy as I take you through how to recreate my You Keep Me Safe and Wild Hearts Cards at home.

To start, I’ll show you how to recreate the masculine You Keep Me Safe Card.

First, you’ll need to choose which Arrow you’d like to use from the More Adventures - Arrow Wood Veneers. Set your arrow aside.

From the More Adventures Card Pack, you’ll need to fussy cut the yellow label and bear out. Ink the edges of each image using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Pull out the patterned paper piece with all the little cut apart options. Fussy cut the yellow/grey frame, two leaves, the large wood circle and the mountains. Ink the edges of all the images using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Choose two border strips from the bottom of the patterned papers. Cut one strip to 2 ½” long and cut the other strip 2” long. Ink the edges of the borders using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

From the wood patterned paper, cut one piece that measures 3 ¾” x 5” and a second piece that measures 3 ½” x 4 ¾”. Distress the edges of both pieces of patterned paper. Ink the edges of the patterned papers using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

From the blue dot paper, cut a piece that measures 4” x 5 ¼”. Distress the edges of the patterned paper. Ink the edges of the patterned paper using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Adhere the leaf patterned paper to the blue dot patterned paper. Adhere the wood patterned paper to the leaf patterned paper.

On the left hand side of the card front, lay the “X” stencil down. Dab Emboss It Ink through the stencil. Lift the stencil off and move towards the bottom right hand side of the card front and repeat the previous step. Sprinkle Salted Navy Embossing Powder over top of the stenciled area. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Adhere the border strips ¾” from the bottom of the cardfront. Use 3D foam squares to adhere the yellow/grey frame to the bottom left handside of the card.

Adhere the wood circle to the middle of the yellow/grey frame. Adhere the mountains ⅝” from the bottom of the card. Adher the yellow label ⅞” from the bottom of the card.

Adhere the two leaves on the right hand side of the wood circle. Use 3D foam squares to adhere the bear to the left hand side of the yellow label. To finish the card, adhere the arrow underneath the yellow label. Adhere your card front to a white cardstock cardbase.

Here are a few closeup photos of the You Keep Me Safe card.

Now we’ll create the feminine Wild Hearts Card.

To start, you’ll need to choose which Arrow you’d like to use from the More Adventures - Arrow Wood Veneers. Set your arrow aside.

From the More Adventures Card Pack, you’ll need to fussy cut grey frame and the wolf. The grey frame will need to be cut down to 2 ⅜”. Ink the edges of the images using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Pull out the patterned paper piece again with all the little cut apart options. Fussy cut the two small wood circles and two signs. Ink the edges of all the images using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

From the backside of the wood patterned paper, fussy cut six leaves.Ink the edges of the leaves using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Choose three border strips from the bottom of the patterned papers. Cut one strip to 3 ¾”  long, cut the second strip 3 ¼” long and cut the third strip 1 ¾” long. Ink the edges of the borders using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

From the Grey Striped patterned paper, cut a piece that measures 4” x 5 ¼”. Distress the edges of the patterned paper, then ink the edges with a blending tool and foam.

From the Star patterned paper, cut a piece that measures 3 ¾” x 5”. Distress the edges of the patterned paper, then ink the edges with a blending tool and foam.

From the Wolf patterned paper, cut a piece that measures 3 ½” x 4 ¾”. Distress the edges of the patterned paper, then ink the edges with a blending tool and foam.

Adhere the first border 1 ¾” from the bottom of the card. The second border is adhered 1 ⅜” from the bottom of the card. Adhere the third border 2 ⅝” from the top of the card front.

In the top right hand side of the card, adhere three leaves, one of the wood circles and a sign. In the bottom middle portion of the card, adhere three leaves, the other wood circle and a sign.

Use 3D foam squares to adhere the grey frame to the right hand side of the card front. Adhere the wolf overtop of the grey frame.
