Time To Bloom by Jenn

Hello, Jenn here with an end of summer layout using the Strength of the Season collection, along with the Bloom with Grace collection from Close To My Heart.  I also created this layout as part of the Summer Fades Into Fall Scrappy Inspiration Hop.  The theme of the layout instantly made me think of the gorgeous sunflowers from the Strength of the Season collection and the concept of how our lives change, like the seasons.  It was a perfect opportunity for a selfie and some self reflection.

I started with a piece of white cardstock and watercolours.  I chose some reds, pink, orange, and yellows, to create a colourful mess on the cardstock.  I used a lot of water on the paper and just touched my brush down to the puddle to let the colours run.  I swirled my paper around and let the colours blend together to get a beautiful mix of colours on the paper.  I let the water sit to dry a little, then used a serviette to soak up any left over puddles.  When it was dry, I splattered some purple watercolours over top.  Because I waited for my original colours to dry, I was able to keep the purple nice and bright, without it blending into the warmer colours and turning to brown.  While my mixed dried completely, I cut strips of paper from some of the 12x12 papers in this collection and the Bloom with Grace Close To My Heart collection.  I also backed my little 4x3 photo with some of the Strength of the Season paper as well.

I used the strips of paper to split my paper in half, with my picture and the mixed media on one side, and the beautiful sunflowers from the Bloom with Grace sticker sheet on the other.  I tucked the large sticker under the paper strips so it looks like the sunflowers are peaking out from behind them.  I popped a few flower petals up with foam squares to add some dimension to the flowers.  I also used foam squares behind my picture.

I used the negative space from a purple label sticker and backed the center with some paper, to create a matte for a quote.  I chose a quote from the 4x6 card pack cut apart card for my title and placed horizontally across the paper strips so it touches both the photo and the sunflowers.  I put the label under the quote so I could add a little phrase from the Bloom with Grace sticker sheet.  I plan to add some journalling but I will put that on the back of the layout so it is a little more private.  I finished the layout with a scattering of SpeigelMom Scraps sequins!

I adore how this layout came together.  I think sunflowers are the perfect representation of the theme for the hop, a transition from summer to fall as well as a beautiful embellishment for a layout talking about the changes of season in your life.  If you would like to see how I put this layout together please visit my Youtube Channel.  You can get 10% off of your next Wild Whisper purchase by using discount code DTJENN at checkout!!!  Thank you so much for stopping by, and until next time, Happy Scrapping :)
