Salem Snuggles by Jenn

Hello, Jenn here :)  I have another layout featuring my sweet Salem.  I love using the Happy Tails collection to scrapbook Salem because, as a black cat, he matches the colours so well, and he also gave Suzy a little inspiration in creating the designs!!!  This layout brought back so many great memories.

When I started this layout I really struggled with what background paper I wanted to use.  I auditioned several options, but ultimately a spilled cup of coffee (by our current sweet little cat Storm) made the decision for me, lol.  I used a very neutral background from the March-April Mix-ins paper pack from Close to My Heart.  I splattered the paper with some peach and teal watercolours to add some interest, and then placed my photo cluster just right and down to the center of the background.  I cut down a few papers from the Happy Tails collection to create my my photo mattes, and tucked a Happy Tails journalling card and die cut into the layers as well.  I used some foam to pop up one of the layers to give dimension to my photo.

To help ground my photo I cut two strips of the beautiful teal flower paper, as well as the manufactorer's strip that has the cat eyes on it, and placed them behind the the picture like a shelf for the cluster to sit on.  I fussy cut several of the peach and teal hearts from the 12x12 heart paper, as well as two black hearts from a journalling card and used those as embellishments around the page.  I also added some black hearts from the Happy Tails Stamp Set, and some sequins as the finishing touch.  At the last minute I decided the layout needed just a little bit more so I ripped a piece from the top of the background paper, backed the space with a piece of a peach journalling card, fussy cut a little flower to tuck into the gap, as well as a pair of little kitten eyes peeking out, and stamped another heart.  Finally, I used my black Sharpie pen to draw a sketchy border around the entire layout.

I really love how this layout turned out.  The colours and images in the collection make every layout you create with it a stunner :)  Thank you so much for stopping by to take a look, and remember that you can always use my discount code DTJENN at checkout to get 10% off of your Wild Whisper purchases.  For more details on how I put this layout together, please visit my Youtube channel.  I truly appreciate your support.  Until next time, Happy Scrapping :)
