Rachel Shares a "Salty Hair" Layout

Rachel Lowe is back today with a stunning, clean layout featuring Wild Whimsy! We adore this layout and the free cut file that she found matches perfectly with the look of our collection! Rachel will take it from here!
Hello lovely creative friends! Today I have  a traditional 12x12 layout using the wonderful Wild Whimsy collectionThe mermaids are just beautiful and this was my inspiration for this layout.
How could one NOT fussy cut the mermaid paper! I also fussy cut the coloured mermaid from the journal card and the Black Sea grass flowers from the paper.
I have used a free cut file from Paper Issues (scales heart cut file) and used the beautiful turquoise paper from the Wild Whimsy pack to back the design.
I wanted to create an 'ocean' at the bottom of my page and cut a 1 inch strip from the same turquoise paper. I then cut off the shell border strip and attached. I finished this off with a row of machine stitching.
I then added a row of machine stitching around my heart for attaching to white base paper. I decided to place my heart on an angle and cut some of the heart off for visual effect.
I cut my title on my Silhouette Cameo, "Ocean air, Salty hair", and placed it around my heart. I then (carefully) added a row of machine stitching to add texture.
I always wait until I have my main paper feature attached to my base paper before deciding where I will add any mixed media product (don't ask my why it just works for me!). I added some turquoise water colour paint splattered around the two mermaids sitting on the white base paper. I used a paint brush, moderately wet with water colour paint and water and brushed once over the title to add contrast against the white.
I have matted my photo with a 3x4 inch journal card and added the shell border strip underneath. Both the black and white mermaids are attached with foam tape to create a 3D effect. Finally I added several of the fussy cut blacks grass flowers and sequins. This is a perfect summer layout for those beach/ocean photos.
