Nathalie is back up on the blog today with her second layout for the month! She calls this one "My Tribe" and it a wonderful layout to showcase her family as well as the Rooted Love collection! Nathalie is going to take it from here!--
For this layout, I used the tree branches paper to cut the heart image of the Feeling Fallish cut file from the Cut Shoppe. I wanted to bring in some color to the page other than the green and blue that are in the picture, so I went for the red and pinkish-salmon shades in the cards.
To create the background, I chose the lightest paper from the collection. Once I figured out that I was going to position the heart to the right of the page, I used some white gesso to prime the spot where the heart would be placed.
Until the gesso dried, I backed the heart with vellum – I love the softness it lends to an image, and used the sewing machine to stitch the vellum in place.
Using coral and pink ink sprays from Paper Smooch, I splatter paint on top of the gessoed part of the page. I used a baby wipe to soften the edges of the mixed media.
The heart was attached to the background using some foam adhesive (this creates that lovely shade behind the cut out)
After the wood veneer heart was embossed with a combination of charred gold and gold powder, I attached the word Family to it – The word was fussy cut from one of the circles in the collection’s paper.
The love circle comes from one of the PL cards.
For the title, I used the B side of the paper used to cut the heart. A Rhonna Farrer cut file (from the Silhouette store) was used to cut the title. I added an offset image of the title (cut on white card stock) to make the title pop on the page.

Thank you so much to Nathalie for sharing this amazing layout today! She really showcased the collection so well with both of her projects this month. She showed that the collection can be so versatile with her first blog post, and she demonstrated the inspiration behind this collection with this layout. Beautiful layout! I love how you used little parts from the card pack for embellishments! The cut files you chose are lovely! :)
