Hello Wild Whisper Fans! Today I wanted to share with you a fun summer art journal page using some of my favorite Wild Whisper Designs products!
I was in the mountains a few days ago and was so inspired by the beauty and majesty of nature! I wanted to capture my thoughts from that day with an art journal page.
The focal images for this page were stamped with archival ink using the Strength of the Season stamp set. The bees were colored with pencil crayons while the sunflowers are colored with a variety of Distress inks. The images were cut out with my Brother ScanNCut as I do not enjoy fussy cutting. If you do not have an electronic die cutting machine, fussy cutting with scissors is always an option.
The mountains were created using the Nicole Wright Designs Get Toasted stencil and white gesso. Shadows and contrast were added using Tim Holtz Hickory Smoke Distress Paint.
To create the beautiful painterly sky, I used yellow and grey blue paint along with white gesso. To get the more painterly feel to the sky, use a square paint brush and pixelated strokes. To get pixelated strokes, use only the broad side of the brush and move in vertical and horizontal directions only.
For the meadow area, also use pixelated strokes with a variety of green paints. I added paint through a stencil with foliage images to add more texture and detail to the foreground.
After gluing your focal images to the page, use a paint pen to add stems and leaves to the sunflowers. Add additional paint to the stems and leave to create highlights and separation from the background.
To create the “Living in the Moment” phrase, stamp the letters with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide Ink using the Brush Script and Ledger and Script stamp sets. Outline the words with a paint pen before fussy cutting the words out.
