Cathy Mixes Heritage Photos with Current ones on a Layout!

Cathy Potosky is here today sharing some wonderful techniques using the World's Best collection. We love this page that she created about her dad - what wonderful photos she has of him! This is a great example of how you can mix heritage photos with current ones, it just looks wonderful! From here we will let Cathy take it away.
We are still celebrating and sharing the newest collection from Wild Whisper Designs!! The World's Best Collection is so amazing! I love the colours, the sayings on the cards, the stamp set. It is all so versatile and I can't wait to mix and match some of these fantastic Project Life cards into my first travel journal.
This project is celebrating my Dad! As soon as I saw the "hero" card I knew I had to use it for my Dad. He's been my hero for as long as I can remember and I think he needs to be reminded of how important he is to our family.
Here a couple of steps showing some of the pieces in the making. My background is done with some Dylusions Dirty Martini paint, water, paint brush and straw. I just watered down the paint, puddled it on the paper and then blew it around with a straw! Simple, fun and I love the "tendrils" I got on some of them.
I used one of the cards, painted in some of the centers and petals with Peeled Paint Distress Ink and did random centers with Speigel Mom Scraps Gun Metal Sequins, then I did the center of those with some tiny beads I had in my stash.
I used the World's Best paper pack, card pack, and stamp set and some Weathered Wood from Emerald Creek andwith this cool chipboard frame from Southern Ridge. I love how all of these just work together.
And now for some close ups of all the pieces that came together to show off my Dad. I edged the "hero" card in Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo and rounded the corners. I then stamped the little teeny branch in Peeled Paint on the card, then did some on scrap paper and cut them out and popped them off with foam tape.
The love key card is edged in Vintage Photo, I used a tiny circle punch to punch out the you from another card, and the "Dad" is cut from yet another card, also edged in Peeled Paint. The last part is a stamp from the set and it is also in Peeled Paint and fit just right in the spot.
I used some circle punches to punch out the words and circles to make these little embellishments.
For the side panel with old pics of my Dad, I used one of the larger size cards, fussy cut "world's best dad" from the 12x12 paper and attached it just above the flowers. I then glued on my sequins and seed beads and let that dry for a bit (after knocking my beads off because I was too impatient! lol)
And last but not least is a quick close up of the Weathered Wood embossed chipboard frame.
Supplies Used:
Gun Metal sequins
