BREW-tiful by Jenn

Hello, Jenn here, Happy Valentine's Day :)  I hope you are all having a lovely day!!!  For this week's layout I thought I would share a love of mine: COFFEE!  I pulled out the amazing Home is Where The Wifi Is collection from Jenn Aguilar and found a selfie I took at a little coffee shop in Crowsnest Pass while we were on vacation in the mountains a couple summers ago to create this layout.

I started my layout by dipping the bottom of my McDonald's coffee cup into some brown watercolour paint and used it like a stamp to create the look of coffee rings on the background paper.  I let the cup sit for a while, moved it around slightly, and double stamped over a few of the rings.  I also used the paint to splatter a little.  Then I created some steam coming from the top of the coffee cup on the paper I chose.  I poked holes and then stitched the lines of the steam with white embroidery thread.  I usually split my embroidery thread into three strands so that it's easier to stitch with but if you want the steam to stand out more, you can leave the embrowdery thread as six strands.  I decided on a simple chain stitch and added a few clear sequins so that my stitching would stand out and have a little interest.

I matted my photos on some red paper cut from the cut-apart sheet in the collection, and then used foam to pop the photos up and give them dimension.  I found some other coffee cup images in the papers and cut out a medium sized one, and a smaller one to use as embellishments.  I also found a quote to use as my title.

To make my coffee cups stand out a little more and give them some personality, I decided to use a Starbucks cup sleeve and create sleeves for my paper cups.  I used my craft knife to cut out the blue oval drawn on the cups, then flipped the sleeve over so that the corrugated cardboard would show and cut sleeves to fit each of the cups.  I stamped 'So Good' on the largest blue oval with the License Plate stamp set from the Road Trip Collection and then adhered it to the front of the sleeve.  For the smaller cups, I just put the blue ovals back on the sleeve, and added some sequins details.

I brought the layout together but placing my photos in the bottom right corner of the largest cup, and then layered my smaller cups above the photos.  I added my quote to the left side of the photos and put some journalling right underneath it.  I added some embroidery thread behind the smaller coffee cups and the quote, and then scattered a few clear sequins around as well.  Finally I added some outlines in white and black pen to help all of the elements on the layout to stand out.

It's amazing how easily a layout can come together when you have beautiful papers to work with.  There are so many fun elements to this collection that you can fussy cut out to create lots of embellishments to match the papers you choose to create it.  I love how my layout turned out.  Please stop by my Youtube Channel if you'd like to see how I put this layout together, and remember that you can get 10% off your purchase of the Home is Where the Wifi Is collection, along with anything else from the shop by using my discount code DTJENN at checkout.  Thanks so much, and until next time Happy Scrapping :)
