Another "Wild" Layout from Alexandria
Welcome back to the blog, and happy Wednesday! We are already halfway through this week! We still have some open spots for our Traveller's Notebook Nature Walk Class this weekend, so check out the link for more deatils!
Today Alexandria Goodman is sharing another stunning layout! We like that she has been challenging herself to create layouts with pattern paper backgrounds due to her white cardstock shortage! When you are missing or running out of something, there is always a creative way to work around it. You can even make the situation into a fun challenge. Anyways, from here we will let Alexandria take it away!
For once, this project started with a specific paper and, once I saw this paper, I knew I wanted to use a photo from a trip I took back in 2012 from the Capilano Suspension Bridge in Vancouver, BC. I also immediately knew that I wanted to include the "The Wild is Calling" card with the moose, but that was about as far as my brain went.
I fussy cut the moose and dug around on my tray and found some leftover bits from my previous layout and the wood veneer "love"
(which ironically, I love). I had a scrap of white cardstock that I'd cut down and not used for one of the 800 things I'm always working on, and knew that I wanted to stick it over the photo background. I usually scrap with white backgrounds, but I don't currently have any full 12x12 pages, so I've been challenging myself to use patterns as my base instead.
I added the strips of patterned scraps to the top and bottom of the white cardstock and used my sewing machine to stitch them down. I added the photo to the top coming off the page a little bit.
I swear the cork heart confetti
is possibly my favourite embellishment. It goes on everything, so of course I pulled it out for this layout. I glued everything down, added my journaling and a label from my stash and called it done.
I ended up fussy cutting one of the watercolour florals from a 3x4 card and sticking it beside the moose and trimming a journal card a little to hold my story. I added some of the gold confetti hearts and stitched the label down.
