Hello, Jenn here, using the Happy Tails collection again this week to create a super cute grid-style layout. The design for this layout comes from a sketch by Meggy Blethen for the iNSD challenges going on at The Secret Not Secret Kit Club.
I started my layout by painting squares on my background paper with watercolours, in the colours from the collection. While that dried I built my photo clusters by layering some of the 12x12 pattern papers behind each photo with some plain grey cardstock on between the layers so you could really see the colours of the patterned papers. I only had three photos of teeny tiny little Storm for this layout, so I used a quote from the journal card pack for the fourth space in my grid. I gave the quote card the same layers as my photos.
Before adhering my photo clusters, I used a pencil to trace the outside edge of each one so that I could add some stamping to the background. From the Happy Tails stamp set I used the floral stamps, and the strip of hearts with the cat and dog faces to add some black detail behind each cluster.
To embellish my four little photo clusters, I pulled out some pieces from the ephemera pack, hearts, cats, and some of the black and white foliage. I decided to use some foam squares to pop up the quote square and added a flair from the Happy Tails flair to that cluster since it is different from the others.
The sketch calls for a long title so I decided to use the lullaby from The Big Bang Theory, that Penny always sings to Sheldon. I thought it was perfect for a sweet little sleeping kitten!!! I used various thickers and alphas from my stash to write my title right down the center of my layout. I also added a few SpiegelMom Scraps exclusive sequins to each little cluster as a finishing touch.
I absolutely love how this layout turned out! The colours, the cuteness, the bold black of the title. It all came together really well :) Thank you so much for stopping by.
