Jenn Shares a Mixed Media TN Layout

We are back home from Creativation in Phoenix, AZ! It was such an amazing whirlwind adventure and it still seems like a dream that we were even there. I will be putting together a video of our trip and a detailed blog post to share a taste of what we were lucky enough to experience! Stick around and keep an eye out for that in the next few days!

Today on the blog Jenn Gagne is sharing her gorgeous traveller's notebook spread that uses the new More Adventures collection! We are loving this mixed media look! Check out her process video below and then Jenn will take it away!

I am back to my January traveller's notebook this week, working on a layout about my youngest son. We just happen to call him our 'little bear' so I knew the minute I saw the bear card from the More Adventures collection, that I would be using it on a layout about him.

I started by applying Gesso to the paper I chose for my background and while it dried I used bits and pieces of left over papers from the More Adventures collection to fill in the spaces on a Paige Evans cut file of a bear. Once the Gesso was dry, I used my Jane Davenport Mermaid markers, a Shimmerz spray, a Heidi Swapp Color Shine, and a Recollections spray to smoosh colour onto the background. Before adhering my background and the bear cut file, I used the bear stamp from the Adventure stamp set to stamp some cute little bears at the bottom of my page. You can definitely tell that this collection has all my favourite colours in it because the Tim Holtz Distress Oxides I have are a perfect match to the colours from the collection. I just love how bright and beautiful the colours are!

I snapped a quick photo of my son, who was sitting beside me as I scrapped, and printed it out with my ZIP Polaroid printer. I used the gorgeous 3x4 bear card from the card pack, along with a few more leftover scraps to matte the photo and add some extra layers (and some extra bears!), and then I fussy cut the blue bear from another 3x4 card and layered it on top of the larger cut file bear. I finished the layout with the title "My Sweet Basy Bear" using some flat alpha stickers from my stash.

This layout was so much fun to make! There is something very relaxing about backing cut files with pieces of patterned paper, and the final results are always so rewarding. I really love playing with mixed media, smooshing colours around, and watching the magic happen. There is so much bright, bold beautiful colour, and my son was really excited to see 'his layout'!

Thank you so much for stopping by, and until next week, Happy Scrapping!!!
