Introducing our October Guest Designer, Karen!

Hello all! Today we are so excited to have the talented Karen Price, who is local to Calgary just like us, as our guest designer for the month! She has a beautiful layout to share today, so we will let her take it away!

Anyone living in Western Canada knows how swiftly our fall weather arrives and then disappears, but more often than not, we enjoy some absolutely glorious fall days.  Witnessing the leaves turning bright yellow, orange and crimson set against big skies of blue with the sound of leaves crinkling under your feet for me, never grows old.  The visual signs of fall’s arrival always give me pause to reflect on God’s great creation and the unfailing rhythm of seasons.

It’s easy to celebrate fall using Wild Whisper’s Sweater Weather collection. What’s not to love?  The pumpkin patterned paper couldn’t have been more perfect for the photo I recently took of a pumpkin headed scarecrow  while visiting a nearby town’s fall festival.

I like to make my own embellishments, which was easy to do, using the coordinating Sweather Weather stamp set.  I stamped a bunch of leaves onto watercolour paper in black archive ink, cut them out and coloured them in, using a combination of distress inks and watercolours.  I then backed each of the larger leaves onto leaf shapes I cut out, and after colouring them in, added a bit of gold embossing to each leaf, using Emerald Creek’s gorgeous “champagne” embossing powder.

I layered up leaves on either side of my photo because I thought they mimicked the way leaves cluster together on the ground, and besides, who doesn’t love adding layers and a little texture on their layouts?

To finish my layout, I added my journalling to a Sweater Weather 3x4 journalling card and tucked it in behind the photo and for a little added bling, added a few of the “Sweater Weather” coordinating sequins.

Supplies Used:
Sweater Weather 12x12 paper pack
Sweater Weather pocket scrapbooking card pack
Sweater Weather stamp set
Sweater Weather sequin mix
Wood Veneer  Nature Mix

Thank you so much to Karen for sharing her gorgeous project with us today! We can't wait to have her back in another couple of weeks. To see more of her work, check out her blog and Instagram.
