Happy Life by Jenn

Happy May Wild Whisper Family!!!  How are you all doing?  Other than warmer weather, more sunshine, and flowers, May also brings a fun scrapbooking series called May I Scraplift You.  Created by Crystal Barrett of Pinapple Papers, this is a series that encourages you to honour your favourite scrappers by creating a layout inspired by one of theirs.  For today's layout I decided to Scraplift a Wild Whisper design team alumni, Karla Yungwirth!!!

Karla's circles made me think of Pam Bray's Simplicity collection, and all the circles in her beautiful papers, so that's where I started!  I then chose a photo of my three oldest kids on a ride at Calaway Park.  The ride goes in a big circle, and each seat has a large circle canpy above it.  Circles were clearly the theme of the layout :) .  I chose the blue and grey stripped paper as my background to give the feel of the sky, and then used Nicole Wright's Circlet stencil with some white texture paste to create some fun texture in the background and add more circles!

While my texture paste dried, I punched out the round flowers from another piece of Pam's paper, and did some hand stitching around the edge of several of them to mimic the stitched effect in Karla's circles.  I like to use a push pin to punch my holes and then separate my embroidery floss into 3 strands to stitch through the holes.  I used a back stitch on these flowers to give them a nice clean border.

I also created my photo cluster that runs horizontally across the layout.  Since I only have one picture instead of the 4 that Karla used, I found a piece from the cutapart sheet in the collection to add to my cluster.  I cut my first strip of paper slightly larger than 4 inches so that my picture would fit inside of it, and then added a second matte behind that strip to add some extra colours and layers to the layout.  Once my photo cluster was adhered, I placed my circles down in a grid above and below it.

I went through my summer embellishment stash to pick a few different types of embellishments to add to the layout.  I have stickers, chipboard, puffy stickers, and even a metal clip, all from various collections and designers, and all in colours found in the circles on the layout.  To finish the layout, I went through all the beautiful SpiegelMom's Scraps exclusive sequins created for Wild Whisper, and found sequins that match each of the circles.  I tried to mix up the size and types of sequins so each circle has it's own unique touch.

I just love how colourful and happy this layout turned out!  Pam has such a beautiful, whimsical approach to her designs that you can't help but smile while using her papers.  You can get this collection and more in the Wild Whisper store, and use my discount DTJENN to save 10% on your purchase.  I also have a process video if you'd like to see just how I put this layout together :)  Thank you so much for stopping by, and until next time, Happy Scrapping xo
