Hello friends! Karla back today with a DIY for you, inspired by the Wild Whisper Gals themselves! If you joined us in the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival over the weekend you may have seen the awesome Live that Heather & Suzy did, making their own TN! You can catch that on FB or YouTube now. Well, that inspired me to make a travelers notebook for the Facebook Live video I did over on the Scrap Shotz page (one of the fabulous retailers who carries Wild Whisper products!!). There are so many fabulous New Products out now, and I decided to make my daughter a special book journal so she could record books she's reading! She absolute loves reading and re-reading books, and I know she's going to love adding her own touch to this notebook.
I started off by using the new Simplicity Paper Pack by Pam Bray. The colours and images in this pack are so beautiful, and you can almost feel the texture of the handmade designs! I pulled out my We R Memory Keepers book binding tool and 8 pieces of copy paper (exact dimensions can be found on the video HERE) and sewed the journal together. Then came the fun part of decorating! I used the One More Chapter Card Pack to create a little pocket for a tag, stencilled with the Honeycomb Stencil and Distress Oxide Inks. I added the Postage Delight Stamps on the tag and background paper - this may be one of my favourite 'mixed media' stamps!! I used some of the wonderful paper from the One More Chapter Paper Pack to make a little bow paper clip accessory that coordinates perfectly! The Sequins from the coordinating pack gave the cover a little bit of bling!
The stamps from the One More Chapter 4x4 Stamp Set are so awesome! I stamped some on white paper and coloured them in with Copics and then stamped some directly on tags and the pages! Nicole Wright's Worn Graph Stencil is fabulous and looks super cool on these pages!!
There are so many cool images and sentiments in the Ephemera Pack - I think it would be a super cool gift to give one of these journals to a friend or teacher along with some coordinating goodies!
I created a little flap with one of the 3x4 cards, scoring at 1/4" from the right and gluing to the page. Some colourful washi tapes add another fun element.
I added another pocket and a a tag decorated with one of the pens from the stamp set - so cool! You can see how awesome the little images from the Postage Delight stamp set look stamped in random places too!
Lastly, I added some of the pen paper from the 12x12 pack and a few more coordinating products. I decided to leave the rest of the notebook so that my daughter could decorate it and fill it up with amazing journaling! I think it will be a fun project for her to look back on.
