Eileen Hull Journal by Cathy!

Hi all! Today we have Cathy Potosky on the blog sharing another amazing project! She has created her own notebook with inserts! We will let her take it from here.
It just wasn't possible to for me to NOT make a journal with the Out & About collection!! I love this die from Eileen Hull Designs and it was the perfect fit for this collection! Oh to be a world traveler ~sigh~ But I am not, at least not yet. But with this collection you can make a travel journal and fill it with all the places you want to go!

There are a number of ways to adhere your paper to the mat board. I just used Sookwang tape and it is super strong. I stained one of my wrapping ribbons with distress ink and then used the Twist and Style tool by Eileen Hull to twist my fibers together. The fibers are being used to close my journal.
I attached the closure with a tiny brad that reminded me of a compass and tied the ribbon on with an antique button that I got from my Aunt when I was in Nova Scotia, although I did stain it with alcohol ink so the colour matched.
For my inserts I used pages from the 12x12 set and cut them to size. The first insert I attached tickets I die cut to the corners, and you can use them as a little tuck spot to keep something in the journal, like a ticket or pass or something and I also added a little pocket on the back of the insert for keeping things in.
My second insert I did with kraft cardstock and used the Out & About Stamp set to do a border around the front and attached a pocket card as a tuck spot. Isn't that little car stamp adorable?! And this is so easy to customize with the card pack and stamps! You can create little pockets where ever you want them or just use the beautiful cards as a page on their own.
The third insert I cut larger than normal so I could fold the ends over and create a pocket on the cover. For the front I used the stamps again and attached them with the same fibers as the tie up for the cover.
And here is the finished project!! Love the wood medallion that goes with this line, I just added some colours that reminded me of what earth looks like on maps.
Thank you for stopping by and checking out this beautiful collection from Wild Whisper Designs! Yes, like I say every time, you need this collection!

Wow – what a great journal. Love the decorative elements you chose to add as well.
