Cathy Potosky is back with another wonderful creation! In her tutorial she shares how she created a unique "coffee stained" background and how to bring the layout together using the No Place Like Home collection. From here we will let Cathy take it away!
I knew as soon as I saw the sheet of paper with all the cups, I was going to do a page dedicated to a few of the insane amount of special coffee mugs we collect at my house. A hot cup of whatever beverage chosen has always been such a big part of some of the best talks, laughs, cries with my kids and my best friends and family.
I gathered the sheets of paper I wanted to use and the cards from the pack and the colours of ink and my "coffee stain" stencil. I cut all the pieces I needed, rounded the corners on the cards and inked all the edges in Vintage Photo and Stormy Sky
I used Vintage Photo in regular Distress and the new Oxide to put the coffee stains all over the white cardstock background. I adhered all my cup photos with a tape runner to the background paper, and attached with pop dots to the background so there was some dimension.
I fussy cut some of the cups from the 12x12 paper and added them in the corners with pop dots.
I loved the card pack from this set and used three of them for this side panel. I inked the wood veneer heart with Stormy Sky and glued it on with Glossy Accents. I wanted to fill the other corner space of the layout, but didn't want it to be too busy, so I used the backside of the cup paper - the beautiful brick!
I have a few other ideas for the No Place Like Home Collection already. So versatile and can be used for so many things!
Thank you so much to Cathy for sharing her wonderful layout that tells a great story about her family. If you would like to see more of her work, be sure to visit her blog and Instagram!
