A Tinbit Christmas by Linda

Hi everyone!  Welcome back to the Wild Whisper blog!

I'm still having fun making Christmas cards, and today I have a shaker one made from the Tinbit Travels collection by Nicole Wright.

As well as adding a bunch of glittery Doo Dadz from Buttons Galare's "Cool Yule" embellishment pack, I die cut the stag out of red glitter paper and threw him in there too.  I love how he moves through the "forest" as you shake the card.

Below, I show the sheet that I cut my background from.  Slimline cards are 3.5" x 8.5", so in order to fit in the tops of the trees, I first had to cut off 1.5" from the bottom of the paper.  Then I cut my *.5" x 3.5" strip and the three trees were perfectly centered for me, so it was easy peasy and I didn't have to do anymore trimming.

I'm going to use the remaining tree on another card and that is why I show you how I trimmed the right hand side off to center the tree.

Below, I'm showing you how I doubled up my foam pop up tape and put it on the piece of acetate as well as the frame for the front of the card.  I did this because I felt the foam should be thicker.  (It's about 1/4" deep now.)

I was kind of messy cutting out the foam pieces.  In order to fix it, I covered up the foam edges that were showing with some sparkly red & white baker's twine.  Problem solved and I liked the look so much that I ended up being glad I was sloppy!  One of those happy errors!

I used the same twine to wrap the shaker portion of the card and tie a bow.  For a focal, I added the Be Jolly piece that I had in my stash.  I thought it fit well with the woodsy theme of my card.

Below, I'm showing you how I piled the Cool Yule mix in the center of the acetate frame before gluing the back piece to it..  At the time I was going to use all those extra glitter pieces that I cut, but then I decided to go with the stag only.

Once I was done with the shaker part of the card, I cut a piece of cardstock 8.5" by 7", scored it down the center and glued the shaker to the card base. I used a 100# cardstock, because the shaker portion is quite heavy and I didn't want the card to sag.

Even when it's not being shook, the card still looks pretty with all the sequins and glitter piled at the bottom.

The inside was decorated in a clean and simple manner with a couple more glittery die cuts.

That was it for this fun card!

That's also it for me!  I made the difficult decision to leave the design team this year, and this will be my last regular post for Wild Whisper as my term is now over.

I'm looking forward though to seeing the new Design Team and all the creativitiy they will be bringing to us on this blog!  I know you will be seeing some amazing projects with the new lines that Wild Whisper has just introduced.

Pop on over to the Wild Whisper store to see the beautiful new collections.  A big welcome to Jenn Aguilar who has joined the Wild Whisper Design Team and has a fun new collection called "Where the WiFi Is".

I don't want you to shop without getting a "deal", so be sure and put my design team code DTLINDA in the coupon box for a 10% discount!

Best wishes everyone!  It has been a real thrill to be on this team!

Merry Christmas!
Linda
