Hello all! Today we have Cathy Potosky sharing a very unique piece with us! She introduces it best herself, so here is Cathy!
I know that I say this about every collection...BUT I love the Out & About! My first project uses the papers, the cards, and the stamps in a bit of a different way. Out & About is showcasing travel, and cars help you travel right? Well I took this used part from my son's car and turned into a wall hanging! The metal piece is a multi layer steel gasket from an exhaust manifold.
I used a three colours of alcohol ink to stain the steel (after I scrubbed and degreased it) and while that was drying I stamped some tissue paper with the stamp set and then die cut all the flower shapes using Tim Holtz dies and Eileen Hull ones too.
Once I had all my pieces ready to go I edged my flowers in distress ink and inked some with the Oxide ink in Spiced Marmalade, spritzed them with water and crumpled a bit. While they were drying I cut out the images I wanted from the card pack and attached them to the gasket.
I used glossy accents to attach all the pieces together and used the Emerald Creek gemstones for some flower centers.
I did heat set the stamped images on the tissue paper just so it didn't smudge - also I was impatient and wanted to scrunch up my flowers right away.
And here is the finished wall hanging! It was transformed from a grungy used gasket from my son's '92 Skyline to a pretty wall hanging in my house!
