Hello, Jenn here with a fun Traveler's Notebook insert layout all about fun in the sun at the local splash park :) My July TN insert has a tropical theme to it so, of course, I had to use some Palm Paradise for a layout. I thought these pictures of my boys at the local splash park were a perfect match for this bright, fun collection. Side note: is there anything better than watching kids stand under the big bucket as it fills with water, trying to hold in their excitement as they wait in anticipation for the bucket to tip and splash water on them? It's one of my favourite things to photograph. No matter how many times that bucket tips, the excitement never goes away!!!
I started by cutting the 12x12 palm tree paper down to the size of my TN insert pages. Because my TN has a decorative border at the top and bottom of each page, I made my pages a little shorter so that the border would be part of the design of the page. I used the smooshing technique to add some blue spray mist to the background of the paper, and then splattered some yellow spray mist to match the yellow bucket in the picture. While the background dried, I matted my photos using the coral coloured word paper. I made sure to line my photos up with the words so that I would have 'Sunshine on my Mind' under the larger photo, and the word 'Paradise' above the smaller photo. There isn't a lot of embellishment in this layout so I love that I could use the paper to add that extra interest.
Now that the background was dry, I glued down my photos. I fussy cut some of the fun tropical flowers from two of the other 12x12 papers in the collection and placed some at the top of one picture and the bottom of the other, then added two little blue chipboard hearts, from Studio Calico, to each photo. Finally, I added each panel into the TN insert. This layout is so simple but really stands out with it's fun colours, and subtle details that match both the details in the border of the TN insert, and the splash park pictures :)
