Hello, Jenn here :) This month my How To Kill A Kit... with Style kit is built around all the bits and pieces of Wild Whisper collections that I have left over from the last few years. I'm so excited to put a good dent into this stash so I can make room for the amazing collections coming up next quarter :D I was really excited to use the Masculine collection and see what embellishments I could match it with from other collections.
I started by cutting 3/4 inch strips from several of the patterned papers in the Masculine collection, with my paper trimmer. I placed four strips of paper, in alternating patterns along each side of the paper. I wove the papers together at each corner.
I chose a photo of Hubby and me at Record Store Day, at our favourite little record store in Calgary. I matted the photo with the bonus paper from the collection and then used some fun foam to pop it up off the page and give it some dimension. I placed it right in the center of the page.
To go with the music theme of the picture, I pulled out the ephemera I have left from Feel the Beat, and added a few pieces to three spots around the photo to create little embellishment clusters.
To finish the layout, I added a few little phrase strips from Tim Holtz to each cluster. I also scattered some Feel the Beat SpiegelMom Scraps sequins, and a wood veneer heart to each cluster, as well. I used some little black letter stickers to create my title: Record Store Day, and then used the wood veneer hearts to write some journalling about the day. My final touch was to add an enamel dot to each set of little word phrases.
I love how all the strips of pattern give this layout so much interest and detail. All the pieces came together so well.
