Page Kit Layouts by Jenn

Hello Wild Whisper Family!!!  Jenn here to share the layouts I made with the last two page kits I put together on the Wild Whisper Live from February 1st.  And as a BONUS!!!  I created a fourth kit from the scraps left over from my first kit! You can find the replay of the live on the Wild Whisper Facebook page to see how I chose my papers, and then click HERE to see the video where I add embellishments and photos to really bring my page kits together. This is also where you will see my BONUS page kit being put together :)

The inspiration behind these kits was the theme for How to Kill a Kit with Style in February, Vintage! I chose to interpret the theme by pulling papers from my Wild Whisper stash that were from their first collection releases. I went back as far as I could and grabbed papers from collections like Adventure, Focus on You, Sassy Since Birth, No Place Like Home, Out & About, Just Because, Masculine, Forever & Always and a few more! (click the collection names to see what products might still be available)

I created the first layout using a page kit with you on a Facebook Live!  Here it is:

My second page was created with the kit I named the 'mixed' kit because it was an interesting mix of papers from very different collections. I used a background paper from Chaos & Love which, although it's a new collection, had a lot of colours in it that I felt I could use to pull papers from other collections. This is a go-to strategy for me when building page kits from multiple collections . I like to pick a patterened paper with all the colours I want to use, and then use those colours to help me pull papers from other collections. A helpful trick is to remember that you may not always be able to match the exact hue of each colour from collection to collection, but as long as your colours are in the same family and tone (warm, cool) then they should all match with no problem. Add different elements and textures of each colour, in a few spots around the layout so that no one shade or tint stands out above the rest and this will make your colour choices blend together and look intentional.

My third page kit was nicknamed the greyscale kit and I decided it would be really fun to create a large shaker pocket to feature on it and add a fun element to all of that black and white goodness! One tip I love to share when creating large shaker pockets is the glue down some of your sequins to the background of the pocket, then fill your pocket up as full as you can, that way, when you lift you page up, the sequins that were glued down will stay at the top of the pocket so you will always see them. Those glued down sequins will also catch some of the loose sequins and keep them at the top of the pocket as well, so not everything falls to the bottom! I also like to use page protectors as my clear top for my pocket when I make shaker pockets on a layout. The page protector isn't as sturdy as acetate, but it has a lot more static and that static can hold some of the sequins in place as well, so you don't lose them at the bottom of the pocket when you page is standing up in its album. My layouts all go into page protectors in their albums so I feel like its safe to use the less sturdy material in this case.

Finally, I created a BONUS page kit from my 'teal' kit because I realized I had enough scraps leftover from the first layout. I kept this layout simple, with just the few scraps of leftover papers, and a few small embellishments. I picked a different contrast colour to the first layout so that each one would look completely different, despite using the same papers. Because the paper scraps were fairly small, I chose a smaller 4x4 photo, and then I actually cut it own even smaller than that. I used the smaller scraps to create some layers behind the photo and popped that cluster right in the center of the layout. I added some spray mist splatters for some fun pops of colour to the background paper. I also decided to create some fun tags where I could hide the journalling and tell the story of the picture. I used just about everything I put into this kit which was so fun and very satisfying.

I added embellishments like stickers, labels, enamel dots, cork, ribbon, paperclips, and lots of sequins, from various designers, to each of my kits to complete them. I love how they all turned out. Page kits are one of my favourite ways to use up stash and also make quick and easy layouts for those days when I am short on time or motivation, but really want to create. They are also very handy to grab and go if your travelling or getting together with scrappy friends. Let me know if you make page kits or want to give them a try!  Thanks so much for stopping by the blog and my channel, I appreciate your support.
