Hello, Happy September! I couldn't wait to start creating with Wild Whisper's September collection, Farmhouse. I went on a fieldtrip with my youngest and his class last spring to a little farm and this collection is perfect for documenting all the cute photos I took.
I was instantly drawn to the red barn door 4x6 card from the card pack and thought it would make a fun, interactive traveler's notebook page. I printed several photos at 1.5x2 inches so that I could get lot's of photos into the one layout. Now when you open up the barn doors, you can see the whole story of our day on the farm.
I used the barn 12x12 paper as a background for the page, and then cut the barn door card in half to span over the middle of the layout. Because I had so many pictures to fit behind the doors, I chose two additional 3x4 cards sit behind the barn doors, which would also flip so I could have even more space for the pictures. The card with the rooster was a great spot for a chicken photo, and I just love that cow card!!!
I used washi tape to create the hinge that holds the cards in place so that you can open up the barn doors, and then flip the cards that are inside. It's so much fun and my kids love to flip the cards and see the pictures!!!
As final touches, I added two manufacturer's strips from the 12x12 papers to make a border at the top and bottom of the pages, and a leftover strip of the yellow patterned paper to the bottom of the page as a journalling spot. I picked out four little chicken footprints from the ephemera pack and cut the lamb label in half to put across the barn doors. At first this layout looks very simple and plain, but the fun begins when you open the barn doors to see all the cute pictures inside :)
