Hey blog readers! We are getting pretty excited for Christmas here in Calgary. It is hopefully going to snow this week, so that will make for the perfect white Christmas. It has been unseasonably brown and warm for the last month or so, so many of us are hoping for snow!
Today on the blog we have Alexandria Goodman back with another project! She is saring this wonderful tree layout using the Home for the Holidays collection. Here she is to take it away!
When I started today's project, I first had to clear December Daily off my desk. Then I pulled out the Home for the Holidays collection and a photo that was leftover from my December Daily album and got to work before it got too dark.
I started by matting my photo with white cardstock, pulling out some wood veneer stars and trimming one of the 3x4 cards into a tag shape to hold my journaling.
I think I flipped through all the pattern papers 4 times before I settled on the green paper with the branches. I ended up removing the mat on my photo and trimming it to 4x4 and adding a new mat to the back. I added a piece of pattern paper behind my photo and trimmed a bit off the top of my background paper so I could leave the red border strip along the bottom of the page.
I pulled out this tree journal card and though about using wood veneer stars to recreate it on the page, or to fussy cut it. I decided to just stick some stars onto the card over some of the existing stars instead.
I stuck everything down on the left-ish side (very descriptive right?). I pulled some red ribbon from my stash and tucked the tag made from a 3x4 card with my journaling behind my photo and added the tree card next to the photo on a slight angle.
I realize now I forgot to add the date, so I'm going to go back and add it to the bottom of the tree card. I adhered the wood veneer stars to the tree card over the tan coloured stars only. I thought about adding more, but loved that it added just a little dimension to the page.
Have a great day! -Alexandria
